Abstract
Abstracts invite the audience into the painting. It becomes a personal interaction between the viewer and the painting and can even be different at different times for the same viewer. Many factors would probably play a role in this : her personality, her emotional state, the philosophical views she holds, her psychological makeup and so forth. For the artist, it is a personal journey that may have been planned or may be an impulsive expression of the state of her mind at the time of painting it.

This painting is inspired by the fascinating patterns on the glass facades of building in Dubai's JLT area. The squares seemed to come alive as I observed them while sipping chai by the JLT lakes. Each square had an indiviudal, pulsating energy to it. Together, they formed a beautiful, unified whole. It reminded me of my 20+ year stay in Dubai. The city is a melting pot of nationalities (around 200) where everyones lives together in harmony, celebrating similiarities and differences in cultures, and creating a family away from family. The canvas is divided into 20x20 squares to reflect people of various cultures, backgrounds, religions and nationalities. Each square has been painted with acrylic colours and controlled brush strokes to create the mood of peace and harmony.

A wall-sized painting that was inspired by the reflections of skyscrapers in the waters of Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT,) a residential and commercial neighbourhood in Dubai. This commissioned work was done for the new house of a family of three generations living happily together under one roof.

A stone wall nurtures plant life allowing the bright, young leaves to make a home in their crevices.
A palette of buff titanium, raw sienna, dabs of cadmium orange and process cyan and mixing white applied with a palette knife create the soft and earthy look of the stone wall. The addition of iridescent gold and pearl white complete the look of this nurturing environment.
Lemon yellow with tiny dabs of process cyan make the perfect greens of the joyful, sprouting life.
Thus the old and ancient nurture and nourish the new.

It can take 1 million years to decompose a CD!
“Sounds of Sustainability” was conceptualized in 2020, inspired by responsible consumption and music’s ability to unite people. Seven CDs represent the seven continents, reflecting connection in times of isolation. The messages revealed on each CD have carefully been chosen to depict how music can spread positivity and improve wellbeing.

I designed this wall for a resident in Dubai who did not like the look of the bare wall in their graden. The client wanted to reflect the curves and straight lines of the garden landscape and at the same time keep it simple. I drew several designs with this in mind and the above was chosen.
Two rows of mosaic lines lines weave across the entire wall to create interesting spaces that have been painted with gold. The upper half of the wall is covered with mosaic to complete the design and the lower half is painted to sunchronize with the rest of the garden.

This piece started with me painting the canvas a beautiful golden hue and I brought out my mosaic pieces that I hadn't used in a few years, unsure of what path this painting would take. The pieces started creating pathways, meandering towards each other to make connections that I craved but coudln't make during the 2020 lockdown. I had spread the mosaic pieces in front of me so that I could easily choose the 'perfectly' shaped ones to fit the path. But as I progressed, I found myself reaching out for the imperfect pieces that were perfect for that particular empty space.
Soon, I discovered that every single tile, regardless of its imperfections found a place for itself.
It got me thinking - that's just like us. Regardless of life's ups and downs, each of us has our own life path that's just perfect of us.
That got me thinking : If the artwork represented life and each piece of mosaic represented a person, each imperfect person is perfect.
