Sumi-E
Sumi-e was the first medium I started painting with in Dubai. This 2000 year-old art form requires black ink, water colours and a zen-like focus. Once a brush stroke is applied, it cannot be erased or rectified. This unforgiving medium requires you to be forgiving to yourself. It requires you to remain calm, confident and unafraid of making mistakes.
While nature is the traditional subject for Sumi-E paintings, I have also experimented with a few human subjects in Sumi-e style.

This painting is deliberately given an old-world look of a precious painting of a bygone era. Let's look at nature as something precious and prevent it from becoming bygone.
